On behalf of The Cornish Family, it is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved anchor, Marvin Burton Cornish, Sr., a former President of the Bowie State University National Alumni Association and a proud member of the Class of 1955. President Cornish transitioned peacefully in his sleep on Friday, November 14, 2025.

President Cornish’s legacy runs deep through the Bowie State community and within his own family. His son, a member of the Class of 1986, and his grandson, Class of 2016, proudly carry his name and followed in his footsteps to Bowie State University. The Cornish Family shared that Bowie State was instrumental in shaping the men they have become.

The family is planning a celebration of his life and legacy toward the end of the month. Final arrangements will be shared with the BSU community as soon as they are complete. The Cornish Family has graciously welcomed the sharing of this news with the wider Bulldog community.
