Our scholarship program is designed to support students who not only demonstrate financial need but also show academic excellence and strong commitment to leadership and social justice.
Purpose: To ensure that financial need does not hinder a talented student’s ability to pursue and achieve academic success at Bowie State University.
Eligibility: Open to students who demonstrate significant financial need and academic potential.
Award: Varies based on available funding and demonstrated need.
Purpose: To recognize and reward students who have achieved outstanding academic results and who are poised to be academic leaders in their chosen fields.
Eligibility: Open to students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher and a record of academic honors or other distinctive achievements.
Award: Merit-based awards that cover tuition, books, and potentially other educational expenses.
Purpose: To support students who have demonstrated strong leadership and/or a commitment to driving social change, addressing issues of inequality, and promoting justice within their communities.
Eligibility: Open to students who have led social justice initiatives, participated in community service, or shown leadership in on campus or off campus organizations.
Award: Awards can include tuition assistance and a stipend for internships related to their field.
To begin the application process for our scholarships, interested students should fill out a preliminary form available here. Upon submission, applicants will receive an email detailing the next steps, including specific documentation required and relevant deadlines tailored to each applicant’s submission date.
Scholarship recipients are selected by a committee of alumni and faculty members based on a comprehensive review of their academic records, financial need, leadership potential, and commitment to social justice.
